Deadpool Director Tim Miller Recruits Brian Michael Bendis for 'Shadowcat' Movie

Not that long ago we did a story on Fox's updates revolving their X-Men franchise. Dates being moved up or back, plans being revealed for movies, all around the time Disney was able to require their entertainment side. One of the possible films that were in talks was the Shadowcat film that Tim Miller wanted to work on.

It's now been reported that Tim Miller is working with veteran Marvel writer, Brian Michael Bendis on the film, essentially showing that Shadowcat is more than an idea but is coming closer to a reality. For those of you who don't understand how it's possible for Fox to continue making X-Men movies even though Disney was able to buy most of the company, the deal hasn't been looked over and regulated, allowing Fox to do as they were before. We probably won't see a finalization until late this year or maybe even early 2019 if something changes or goes wrong.

Some of you maybe wondering, "Who is Shadowcat?". Well you've seen her in almost every X-Men film, however they never went by her codename. Shadowcat, aka Kitty Pryde, was played by actress Ellen Page for a majority of the film. Yes, the one who could run through walls and somehow send people back in time. The reason Fox probably asked Bendis to come script the movie is due to his connection with the character. Bendis had written a number of stories during his run in the 2012 All-New X-Men series which put Shadowcat in a leadership position.

The movie was given the code "143" which could be a callback to The Uncanny X-Men issue 143. In issue 143, Shadowcat is just a young X-Men who happens to be stuck alone with a demon in the X-Mansion. Fox sure does love putting kids in the strangest situations.
