Jordan Peele is at it again. Fans of the comedian/director's work will be happy to hear of his next upcoming thriller titled Us. For months, there was almost no information on the film but now that the film is to come out early 2019, we're finally able to get some information for Slash Film.com.
The film's synopsis reads as: "A mother (Academy Award winner Lupita Nyong’o from Black Panther, Star Wars: The Last Jedi and 12 Years a Slave) and a father (Winston Duke from Black Panther) take their kids to their beach house expecting to unplug and unwind with friends (including Emmy winner Elizabeth Moss from TV series The Handmaid’s Tale). But as night descends, their serenity turns to tension and chaos when some shocking visitors arrive uninvited."
The synopsis is definitely more vague than Get Out's. "Now that Chris (Daniel Kaluuya) and his girlfriend, Rose (Allison Williams), have reached the meet-the-parents milestone of dating, she invites him for a weekend getaway upstate with Missy and Dean. At first, Chris reads the family's overly accommodating behavior as nervous attempts to deal with their daughter's interracial relationship, but as the weekend progresses, a series of increasingly disturbing discoveries lead him to a truth that he never could have imagined."
Not a sequel to Get Out, at least as far as we know, the synopsis sounds similar to The Strangers series, however, there's still too little to go on to tell. With how psychological the story of Get Out got, and with more resources behind him, and his style of storytelling, Peele there's sure to be subliminal messages, hidden background characters, and a possible hint to a real-world problem flipped on its head and taken to the nth degree to keep us all on the edge of their seats every minute of the film
The cast of Us also features Tim Heidecker (Tim and Eric Awesome Show, Great Job!), Yahya Abdul-Mateen II (Aquaman), and Anna Diop (Titans), Shahadi Wright Joseph, Evan Alex, Madison Curry, and twins Cali & Noelle Sheldon.
The film is set to release March 15, 2019.
