Ever since Star Wars Episode VIII: The Last Jedi was released, fans were curious as to what the inevitable Episode IX would be about. LucasArts have been tightlipped about where the series will go next, with the only details slipping out being leaked photos of the film shoot, but even those don't really indicate anything about what the movie will be about. However, John Boyega, who plays Finn in the Star Wars sequels, confirmed in a recent interview with Empire magazine that the movie will take place one year after the events of The Last Jedi.
Rumors were circulating earlier this year about when the movie would take place, but this piece of information confirms what the fans were speculating, that the movie would not take place immediately after The Last Jedi. This is an interesting change of pace for the sequel trilogy, since The Last Jedi took place immediately after Episode VII: The Force Awakens, which broke away from series tradition of each movie taking place after a year or so had passed.
There were also rumors of a possible teaser or trailer to be released during Christmas, but with how late in the season it is, this is becoming increasingly unlikely, especially since there has been no word of any sort of trailer being rated for cinemas. This adds further weight to this piece of information Boyega has fed the fans. We can only wait as someone from Disney or LucasArts dripfeeds us more information.
