Hasbro Announces Transformers Franchise Reboot after Bumblebee Solo Film

After almost a decade, it's time for the Autobots to roll out and stay out, or is it?

After the release of Transformers: The Last Knight it was believed, once again, to be Michael Bay's final film involving our beloved robots in disguise. Then again, he said that before so most of us took it with a grain of salt. Now, we have confirmation from Hasbro that the movie franchise will be rebooted after the release of the solo Bumblebee spin-off.

During the Toy Fair 2018 Hasbro Investor Preview, Hasbro said that a team with Paramount would be working on the new universe, along with a number of other films: G.I Joe, Micronauts, and other childhood favourites. It is unknown if the G.I Joe universe will also be reset or if we'll be continuing from the last movie G.I Joe Retaliation.

Personally, I'm not sure if I should be happy or worried. Movies based on children shows from the 80's haven't really been received well. Yes, Bay did amazing with his first Transformer film but things started going downhill after he took the lore of the franchise and swept it under the rug. I will always say that he set the bar for how an actual Transformer would look if they existed however, that's all he got right. Hasbro has stated that they will be more involved with the reboot so there IS hope that we'll get something closer to the source material, but we won't know for some time. As you can see, their future film lineup does not include Transformers so it's safe to say this decision was recent and everything is back to square one.
