One animated series we never expected to ever see or wanted, is the live-action adapted Nickelodeon's youth series, Dora the Explorer, but it's the one we're gonna get. The film is being produced by Paramount Players, Paramount's newest division that was made to work on films like this with other Viacom companies.
Actress Isabela Moner, known as one of the main cast in Transformers: The Last Knight, has been brought on to star as Dora. She will be playing a teenage Dora who is going on another adventure with her cousin Diego and longtime friend Boots. The writer for The Muppets, Nick Stroller had begun writing the script a few weeks ago with Josh Boblin as the film's director. As of now, there's no more information on actors as the film has recently gained traction but with this announcement, we can expect more names to come up.
Paramount Players president Brian Robbins said "We are thrilled to have found our Dora in Isabela. Dora has long been a celebrated, strong heroine in animated television, and like Dora, Isabela has an incredible spirit and is an advocate for positive values. With our partners at Nickelodeon, we look forward to continuing Dora’s story for generations to come.”
Isabela Moner showed appreciation for being chosen as the actress to represent the iconic character:
“I’m honored and excited to bring Dora to life. I grew up watching the show, and for me, especially as a Latina, Dora was an amazing role model — she is a strong, adventurous and fun-loving girl. I can’t wait to put on the backpack and begin her next adventure!”
The film is scheduled for an August 2019 release.
