Adult Swim has ordered 70 new episodes of one of their most beloved shows Rick and Morty. The news was released today by co-creator Justin Roiland's twitter. Dan Harmon released a video on Instagram of both him and Justin in the shower, saying that it's time for them to go back to work.
So far, each season of Rick and Morty only has 10 episodes, meaning Adult Swim is asking for 7 seasons of the show, meaning if they manage to go through all 70, Rick and Morty will have gone through 10 whole seasons. In September 2017, Harmon spoke about wanting to do more than 10 episodes a season, but as of now, there's no information on that.
Rick and Morty had a bit of an issue last year with Mc'Donald's Szechuan Sauce. Late in 2017, fans of the show began going crazy over a joke made by Rick in the season 3 opening. One of the major stories to come out was that the show itself was now canceled after the creator's disapproval of their fans actions simply because a main character made such a big deal about it. For some, it could be said that this incident is possibly the reason it took Adult Swim so long to come out and give the green light for the show.
